Preparing for the Mother Road, Round 2!
Cade is getting ready to graduate high school in June - and his dream of a senior trip on Route 66 is coming to fruition!
He and I will depart for Chicago, to start our westward adventure along Route 66 in early July. After finally selling the 1977 Chrysler Cordoba, we have purchased a 1989 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible to enjoy on the Mother Road!
I discovered the car in Olympia, Washington early in March and brought it home via trailer. The Vette is in pretty good shape, it just needs some minor mechanical work and a few cosmetic repairs and I've been chipping away at this work for the last several weeks.
So far, we have replaced headlamps and updated them to LEDs and replaced all of the weather stripping around the doors and top. I've upgraded the wheels and tires, going with staggered C5 wheels and tires - 18s in the rear and 17s in the front, along with General GMAX tires. I know the "purists" will not appreciate that I didn't stick with the original "salad shooter" wheels, but I simply do not like them.
I'm looking forward to the trip with my eldest son! Here are few pics of the Vette. By the way, it will be for sale as soon as we leave on this trip. We would even consider delivering to someone along the route if they want to purchase it for full price. The car is a 1989 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. It's bright read, has red interior and automatic transmission. All interior parts work and are in decent shape for their age. The car has the upgrades above along with a new battery, freshly charged A/C, a K&N air cleaner, Kenwood bluetooth head unit and upgraded speakers. It has the original 5.7 motor and almost 60,000 original miles (climbing as we drive). Power driver seat, power mirrors, windows, cruise control. Top is in good condition and the paint is in decent shape for a car that's well over 30 years old. I will be asking $12,500 or best offer!
Here are the pics...more will be added:
